Helios Grade

Make digital footage feel less digital.

A film-look plugin for Resolve’s Color page. Add halation, grain, mist, glow, split tone and print character — in small, honest moves that still feel like your grade.

Not a magic LUT. Not a huge control panel made to impress screenshots. Just the useful parts of film texture and colour, laid out so you can make a shot feel better in minutes.

Buy once, keep grading

Licensed software activates on up to 3 computers at a time and keeps working offline between checks. The licence itself never expires.

Made for the Color page

Install the OFX plugin, add it to a node, and keep working inside the Resolve grade you already know — on a Rec.709 timeline or natively in DaVinci Wide Gamut.

Try it on your footage

Run it free, watermarked, with no time limit. Test the look on real edits, not a cherry-picked demo frame.

How to think about it

Choose the feature by what the shot is missing.

You do not need to turn on everything. Start with the problem in the image, then use the smallest tool that solves it.

Use halation when light feels too clean

Headlights, windows, candles and neon should feel like they live in the scene. Halation gives bright edges a warm film-like bleed without turning the whole frame hazy.

Use mist and glow when the scene needs air

Mist softens contrast. Glow lifts bright areas. Dream makes the frame warmer and more romantic. They are separate so you can be gentle instead of heavy-handed.

Use split tone for colour separation

Cool the shadows, warm the highlights, protect skin, and keep the image believable. It is useful when a flat grade needs direction but not a full LUT.

Use print and grain near the end

Print profiles add a final colour personality. Grain adds texture and movement. Both usually work best after exposure, contrast and balance are already in place.

Simple grading flow

A good starting point: balance, light, colour, texture.

Balance the shot in Resolve. Add Helios for the things cameras and sensors often miss: softer highlight behaviour, gentle colour separation, a print-like finish and grain that moves.

1

Balance first

Exposure and contrast before film texture.

2

Shape light

Halation, mist and glow for practicals and atmosphere.

3

Separate colour

Split tone and density for a clear mood.

4

Finish quietly

Print profile and grain at the end.

Wide gamut or Rec.709

Tell it which one it is being handed. In DaVinci Wide Gamut it grades DWG/DI and hands it straight back.

Mask views

See what every module is touching before you judge the final image.

Human controls

Small, named controls for real grading decisions — not a wall of mystery sliders.

Keyframeable

Move from subtle to expressive across the shot inside Resolve.
